One Breath
Life flows through you, one breath at a time. Each breath is an opportunity to receive and offer, to expand and come back to center, to take in fresh inspiration and release what you no longer need.
In each breath, you exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide with plants. In each breath, new creatures inhale for the first time while others exhale for the last time. In each breath, the moon shrinks or grows in its monthly cycle. In each breath, the fusion of hydrogen in the core of stars (a stellar inhalation) causes light to emanate outwards for billions of years (a stellar exhalation). The universe is one breath—one breathing—and you are a part of that great breathing.
You Are What You Practice
Every moment of your life, you are practicing something—a way of breathing, a posture or movement of the body, a pattern of thinking, a mood, an emotional pattern, an activity, a habit. Some of these practices are beneficial, some are neutral, and some are not for the greatest good. Some of your practices, you do intentionally; some, you would prefer not to do; and some, you do without even realizing it.
Over time, your practices add up to your life. To change your life and change who you are, change what you practice.
Embrace Change
With each breath, life changes within and around us. Your body changes. Your values and beliefs change. Your circumstances change. Sometimes it's necessary to form new practices to fit with a new inner or outer reality—or to prepare for changes you know are coming.
