Wild Goose (Dayan) Qigong originated in the Kunlun mountains of China in the 4th century AD. It is a medical Qigong that incorporates martial techniques, shamanic dance, mudras, movements, meditations, and breathing techniques that activate specific acupoints, channels, vessels, chakras, and organs. It is a unique system that interweaves both Qigong and daoyin techniques, consisting of fifteen movement forms and many meditation forms, each with specific intentions of healing and cultivation.

Some forms are practiced while standing in one position, and some forms involve different kinds of walks, turns, and facing specific cardinal directions related to the Ba Gua (the eight gates, which relate to the eight trigrams that form the sixty-four I Ching hexagrams).

Lineage

Wild Goose was kept relatively secret for centuries until Grandmaster Yang Mei Jun started teaching it publicly in 1978. My teacher, Dr. Bingkun Hu, was one of her disciples, and my other teacher, Micheline Bogey, was an advanced student of Dr. Hu and of Master Pulong Li, a disciple of Yang Mei Jun's son, Grandmaster Chen Guan Gan. I also studied briefly with the gentle Master Hui Liu, another disciple of Yang Mei Jun, but ultimately resonated more strongly with Dr. Hu's more lively style.

I incorporate Wild Goose techniques, approaches, and movements in all of my drop-in classes. I will be teaching specific Wild Goose forms in the coming months. Details below.
